Position Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Staff Accountant plays an important role to the overall success of QuesTec Mechanical. The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Accounting with all accounting-related duties of a busy, successful mechanical construction company. Speed and accuracy are of utmost importance in this role. The Staff Accountant will perform the required responsibilities with a positive attitude and be willing to grow his/her knowledge base.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Payroll Support to Payroll Administrator
  2. Audit Support to Director of Accounting
  3. Tax Prep Support to Director of Accounting
  4. Accounts Payable Support to Accounts Payable Clerk
  5. High Level AP transactions
  6. Supports Purchasing with data entry and clerical tasks.
  7. Manage the QuesTec Real Estate books and financials
  8. Supports and reconciles monthly bank accounts and credit card statements
  9. Supports end of month GL closings
  10. Supports and maintains depreciation schedules for fixed assets, equipment and vehicles
  11. Maintains and analyzes fleet vehicle records and costs associated with vehicle purchases, maintenance and depreciation
  12. Prepares and reviews monthly balance sheet, P&L statement and other financial reports, as requested
  13. Supports in Quarterly Estimated Taxes and Draws
  14. W2 Preparation, execution and corrections
  15. 401k Plan Transaction Support
  16. Performs general data entry related to the accounting function
  17. Accepts guidance and exhibits a willingness to communicate positively with all QuesTec employees

SECONDARY DUTIES

  1. Maintains various licenses related to the Company and projects
  2. Troubleshoot A/R, A/P, and job costing questions
  3. Suggests ways to reduce costs, enhance revenues and improve profits
  4. Works with employees responsible for inventory
  5. Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ten years of corporate accounting or bookkeeping experience
  2. Positive attitude and outlook
  3. Proficient with technology and basic computer software programs
  4. Advanced Excel knowledge preferred
  5. High degree of accuracy and detail orientation
  6. Ability to work within tight deadlines
  7. Attention to detail and quality of work performed by self and work to be assigned to project(s)
  8. Ability to work independently with minimal direct oversight
  9. Excellent time management and organizational skills
  10. Good communication skills (oral and written)
  11. Solid understanding of confidentiality in an information-sensitive employment role

EDUCATIONAL, LICENSING and CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma; bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  2. Valid social security number

ANALYTICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. High degree of organization and ability to prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects.
  2. Ability to understand and consistently apply mid-level accounting skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands of this position are moderately sedentary in nature.

  1. Ability to withstand long periods of sitting or standing (stationary positions up to 50% of time)
  2. Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands; may require extensive keyboarding work at times

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment for the Senior Staff Accountant is that of an average office setting, The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
